Gifts of Inspiration (Prophecy)

12th October, 2014

Rev. Mark Ballosingh

Prophecy comes by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The book of Isaiah speaks about the Messiah. Isaiah 53:5 – But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Prophecy in the Bible was not personalized. Judgment is personalized. When one has the gift of prophecy, one has to do it to edify, exalt and comfort. God is to be given the glory. You must be careful how you deal with the things of the Lord. For instance, 1 Corinthians 11:28-28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

We are living prophetically in the world, leading to the Anti-Christ, according to Revelation.

Talking in tongues is inspiration from God.

Isaiah 28:11 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people.

Mark 16:17 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:2 –For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

Spirits assigned to the Saints (Is your name on your gift?)

28th September, 2014

Rev. Mark Ballosingh

Believer, your name is on your gift!

1 Corinthians 12:1-12 – 1Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

When people identify their gifts, they are able to find their place in the Kingdom. Just as God gives His people gifts, the devil also gives his people gifts. Natural ability and gifting is different. To stand in an office in the Church, you must have a gift.

To know what gift is in you, you need to have an encounter by the Holy Spirit. When you come into your gifting you will know. God will put you in a situation that you will know is not your natural ability. If you want to know your purpose, find your gifting. All believers should seek after their gifts. The purpose of your gifts is that people around you will know Jesus. Apostle Paul said (1 Thessalonians 4:13) – 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

Know the difference between natural ability and gifting through the Holy Spirit. Coming to the truth, revolutionary knowledge comes. Paul and Jesus were not persecuted for their miracles but for their gifting. The Bible says that people will be persecuted for preaching God’s Word. The gifting is not for yourself but of Christ that liveth in you.

 Purpose of the gift:

  •  Draw men to Christ
  • Confirmation of the Word of God
  • Growth of the Church

 Categories of Gifts:

  1.  Revelation
  2. Inspiration
  3. Power

To be a leader through Christ

21st September, 2014

Rev. Mark Ballosingh

To be a leader through Christ:

  • Preach it and Live it – Live the life you preach about. “By their fruits you will recognize them”. Fruitfulness has it place in the kingdom of God. John 14:12 – 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 5:30 – 30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
  • Witness to others – John 4 – And he must needs go through Samaria. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again.

Jesus had a purpose in Samaria. Go and meet folks that no one else will.

  • Make time for prayer – Jesus always replenished himself by going to the Prayer Mountain. You have to spend time in the presence of God. Mark 1:35 – 35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
  • Deny self – Mark 8:36 – 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
  • Leadership understands authority – Reference scripture – Mark 11:27-33.
  • Leadership by creditability – Reference scripture – Luke 5:12-15.
  • Leadership understands successorship – Leaders mentor and make place for a better leaders to come. Every good success has a greater successor. Jesus rose from the dead, left and made room for the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is coming soon, time to get involved and become a leader through Christ.

Answering the call to Kenya (Missionary Work)

14th September, 2014

Rev. Mark Ballosingh

Acts 16:9-15 – 9-10 That night Paul had a dream: A Macedonian stood on the far shore and called across the sea, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” The dream gave Paul his map. We went to work at once getting things ready to cross over to Macedonia. All the pieces had come together. We knew now for sure that God had called us to preach the good news to the Europeans.

11-12 Putting out from the harbor at Troas, we made a straight run for Samothrace. The next day we tied up at New City and walked from there to Philippi, the main city in that part of Macedonia and, even more importantly, a Roman colony. We lingered there several days.

13-14 On the Sabbath, we left the city and went down along the river where we had heard there was to be a prayer meeting. We took our place with the women who had gathered there and talked with them. One woman, Lydia, was from Thyatira and a dealer in expensive textiles, known to be a God-fearing woman. As she listened with intensity to what was being said, the Master gave her a trusting heart—and she believed!

15 After she was baptized, along with everyone in her household, she said in a surge of hospitality, “If you’re confident that I’m in this with you and believe in the Master truly, come home with me and be my guests.” We hesitated, but she wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Apostle Paul had a vision. Paul was travelling and called to visit Macedonia. There was pagan worship and no one welcomed him there. Sometimes we go places where the only thing that keeps us going is God’s faith. Missions start with a call.

City Sanctuary is sowing a spiritual seed and physical need into Kenya. Paul obeys the call immediately. Similarly, when we received the call about Kenya and everyone came together.

Matthew 28:7 – And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

We are all commissioned by God to go and tell. If the Church fails to evangelize, we will fossilize. The great commission is the lifeline of the Church. We as believers are supposed to be blessings to others. Reference scripture – Matthew 25:34-46.

What is missionary work? “A missionary is someone who leaves their family for a short period of time so that others may be with their families for eternity”.

To be a missionary:

1) One has to deny himself – Matthew 16:24 – Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

2) You must have a heart filled with love – James 2:15-If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

 3) You must have faith – James 2:14-26 – 14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?

We all have to do part to fulfill the Great Commission.

Relationship with Christ

10th August, 2014

Pastor Jay Harrynarine

Mark 8:27-29 – 27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? 28 And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. 29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

We need to have a relationship with Christ. Jesus is the only way. Make Jesus your Savior. Learn about Jesus; get to know Him. When everyone fails, He will never fail. Give God an opportunity in your life today. God is your Jehovah Jirah, your provider and your supplier.

Jesus is the Bread of Life, the Light of the World, the Resurrection and the Life.

Matthew 11:28-30 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Steadfast and Unmovable

27th July, 2014

Apostle Selma Ballosingh

1 Corinthians 15:58 – 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

We as Christians must be steadfast and unmovable saints. How do we become steadfast and unmovable?

  • Peace with God – the unsaved does not know anything about peace. We get peace through the Christ merit of his blood. Romans 5:1 – Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Reference scriptures : John 6.
  • Follow Jesus – 2 Timothy 1:12 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
  • You must have the discernment of spirits and abide in Christ. John 15:I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
  • The Holy Spirit witnesses in your life – 1 John 3:24 – 24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
  • Avoid Church divisions – This is contrary to Christ the Lord. Matthew 12:25 25And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.
  • Know how to deal with temptation – Matthew 6:30, 26:41. Proverbs 4:14-15 – Proverbs 4:14-14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
  • Do not be influenced by false teachers – Acts 20:30, Proverbs 26:1-2, 2 Timothy 2:18, Jeremiah 23:16

Jeremiah 29:8 – For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

As a steadfast and unmovable people, we have to hold fast to the promises of the Word of God.

Purpose of the Church (Story of Samson – Strength)

13th July, 2014

Rev. Mark Ballosingh

God always has a purpose for us.

Samson was a strong man. The shaking came upon him which was the anointing where he became supernaturally strong. The devil knows our daily routine and the moment we do something different, he knows. Sometimes, you need to shake off some stuff. We are called to engage the enemy.  Be strong. Tell the devil “This week is my week!”

The Philistines wanted to find Samson’s weakness. He left Israel and started to look for Philistine women. He then fell in love with a harlot who was then paid by the Philistines to find out more about him. Samson told the woman he got his supernatural strength from his hair. Samson lost his strength and the anointing because he found himself in the wrong place.

This is a lesson for us in the church. As a Church, we can’t step outside of righteousness, we would lose our strength.

How do we remain under the anointing –

  • Listening to the instruction of God
  • Get Wisdom
  • Being humble

Reference Scriptures – Judges 16, Proverbs 1
