“Call on God, conflict with satan” “Let not your Faith be faint”

Wednesday 26th May 2010 – Pastor Mark Ballosingh

Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them [to this end], that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Anything that flourishes begins with prayer. When prayer is not answered immediately men become faint. As a believer pray persistently, rebuke fear or anything which will hinder you from believing your prayer will be answered.

As we call on God and our Faith Increases simultaneously Satan rises and there is conflict with the enemy. The more critical part of conflict is that which we can’t see. Our prayer must be for God to open our eyes spiritually to see that which God wants us to see.

Daniel prayed consistently for 21 days while in the lion’s den. Daniel held unto God believing that he will be delivered from his situation. Because of Daniel’s Persistent Prayer & Faith the Lord preserved him and shut the hungry lion’s mouth.

We have to pray until whatever we prayed for is granted or until we have the assurance it will come to pass. There are 2 reasons people stop praying:- (i) They are fed up and become faint or (ii) They have Supernatural Faith and have placed their prayers in God’s hands believing he will take care of it.

Being faint in Spirit is the enemy of Faith.

Psalm 27 11-14 –Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.  [I had fainted], unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

So many false witnesses, so many against me I should have fainted but when I think about your goodness I am led to continue to hold unto your promises and pray…”Who shall separate you from the love of god? God preserveth the Faithful.” Do not give up, be persistent.

Persistent Prayer which raises up conflict with the enemy will cause our Faith to be stretched – Faith is stretched when our situation is stretched and becomes overbearing. Out of these situations a Testimony will come. Remember all things are possible through God we need to Pray, Believe and have Faith (Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things [are] possible to him that believeth.)

Reasons why Prayer isn’t answered:-

 1) We do not know what we are praying for, we pray amiss James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.. Persistent prayer must be (i) Specific (ii) On target. Are we praying for God’s will to be done in our lives? Related passages-

(i)Romans 8 26:28 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

(ii) Daniel 3:29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

(iii) 2 Chronicles 6 – Solomon dedicates the temple and prays for specific areas.

 2) Pray with the spirit of lust, murder, covetousness, fighting, friendship with the world, adultery, rebelliousness. When we pray we must ask God “to create a clean heart, renew a right Spirit”

Have you ever prayed for something and when the answer came you are confused? Learn to recognize that whatever you pray about God will send the answer according to his will.

  • We pray for God to grant us patience then right after he sends someone to test your patience. “Tribulation worketh patience”
  • We pray for submission to Christ then suffering after suffering…Submission doesn’t come without suffering. We need to recognise God is teaching us a lesson through the suffering, instead of complaining know in the end God’s ways are above our ways.
  • We pray for healing but then we are faced with sickness after sickness. God is showing you that he can take you through any sickness and he will continue to keep you once you keep your Faith.

Persistent prayer lives in the heart of those who believe and live by God’s word. He will carry you through the trials and the sickness so you can see the contrast of the suffering to the victory. “You cannot truly appreciate the beauty of black unless you put it against white.”

God will put us through a process to develop and build our Faith so we can learn a lesson out of the experience. You cannot enjoy the mountain top experience unless you pass through the valley. The more you pray is the more God will teach you. Whatever weakness or fear in your life God will surround you with those circumstances to make you stronger. When you prayer for endurance God will send obstructions.

There is a story about a man who God told to push a cliff every day for a year. Each day the man would push the cliff and after a year passed he asked, what was the purpose of doing this? It was to develop the man as he became stronger as each day passed. Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved

Ask and you shall receive, but you can’t receive if you pray amiss or you pray not knowing what you are asking for.

Many people miss the blessing because we faint. God’s timing is always right, he is never early or late.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not Galatians 6:9”

“Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way Matthew 15:32

And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far Mark 8:3

Be persistent in prayer believing that Faith will take you to a Supernatural Dimension that isn’t through silver, gold or worldly things. When we walk in the Spirit, we hear and see things in the Spirit. Man is unbalanced but when you come into persistent prayer the balance comes as the Holy Spirit controls the flesh. God will not allow you to bear more than you can.

1 Peter 1 13-25 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning [here] in fear: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, [see that ye] love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Release your prayer and burden knowing and believing God is in control….You may not be able to see the conflict the enemy is raising up but know that God is working on your side. God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we think or can ask.

Pray fervently and from your heart. Fervent prayer comes from a righteous man. People cannot speak to situations in their life because they cannot understand the effect of fervent prayer. Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith

Persistent prayer is effective prayer. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much James 5:16.  Prayer is a vehicle that transports us to be where God is. Prayer must not be a response to a problem, if we are constant in prayer it will flow naturally its’ not a lip service to God, we pray when things are good and bad.

There is no prayer that God would not answer according to his Will. Great are those things which come through Prayer for these things are everlasting. Job had all the material things and all were taken away from him.

To faint is to fail in prayer. Tarry and Wait on God, stay firm and let your heart take courage, God will carry you through.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 – 17 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all [men]. See that none render evil for evil unto any [man]; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all [men]. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing
