“LET GOD DO WHAT HE SEEMETH TO BE GOOD”

Sunday 10th October 2010 – Pastor Mark Ballosingh

1 Samuel 3:18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It [is] the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.

The ways of the Lord are past finding out, sometimes God allows things in our life which by human nature we may not accept it or not feel comfortable with it, but know that God is in it! When the situation we come into is uncomfortable know that Gods’ Will in our life will be accomplished.

WHAT GOD DOES AND WHY HE DOES IT

  • Gods’ purpose reflects his wisdom. As human beings, our wisdom is limited, but God’s wisdom is infinite and unquestionable. God is with us in everything, doesn’t matter how negative the situation is, he is in it……
  • God does not make mistakes he never sets a plan in motion without knowing the end of it. His purpose may not conform to our wishes but we can rest assure knowing it conforms to His Will, His Outcome and His Justification.
  • Gods’ Love never changes. People and things around us will change but the Love of God changeth not. He is a God who seeks the interest of His children. It is important for us to understand how much God is interested in us.

The origin of Samuel is a very super-natural and miraculous one. His mother is barren and is considered cursed. She sorrowed in her Spirit and goes in The House of God and cries out to God to have a child. Eli is walking through the temple and sees and hears Hannah but as the Head Priest he lacks discernment and thinks Hannah is drunk, 1 Samuel 1:14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee

Hannah prays a very serious and specific prayer and makes a covenant with God 1 Samuel 1:11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. Sometimes the reason we are not getting our breakthrough is because we have to come to the point where we make a covenant with God.

Hannah is true and keeps her promise with God. Out of desolation, remorse and bitterness Hannah brings forth a child, when those around looked at her as a barren and cursed woman. She takes Samuel to Eli…this is the product of the negative environment, in the midst of it, God heard me and Blessed me, that which was barren became fruitful and multiplied… 1 Samuel 1 25And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli. 26And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.

Samuel lives in The House of God, as God was preparing him for his divine purpose to be fulfilled. One night while Samuel was asleep he would hear a voice call his name 3 times and each time he would go to Eli, on the third time Eli would tell Samuel it’s not me but it’s the voice of the Lord 1 Samuel 3 6-10: 6 And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here [am] I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him. 8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here [am] I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child. 9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

When God starts to speak to you and call you by name, know that he is about to prepare you for great things. In order to hear the voice of God and know its’ the voice of God you must be in the midst of a sanctified environment and at a time when you are closest to him.

The Lord speaks to Samuel to give Eli a message, Samuel a student who did not yet know the Lord would be called upon to give his tutor, the Head Priest a message which would make Eli uncomfortable. 1 Samuel 3 11-14: 11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle. 12 In that day I will perform against Eli all [things] which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. 13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli‘s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.

When God gives a Word it will not always be a Word of comfort but it’s for The Will of God to be fulfilled. God was about to bring Judgment in The House of God, Eli’s sons were going to die and the enemy would capture Israel. While Eli was doing the Lords’ business his sons were corrupting The House of God. 1 Samuel 2:12 Now the sons of Eli [were] sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD. The battles are not always outside but inside.

It is a sad day for Samuel to give Eli a message like that and a sad day for Eli to hear a message like that….although God brought great judgment to Eli, his sons and Israel he was in it to the end as it would generate a revival in Israel. When God gives us a Word which makes us uncomfortable he is making us realize that we need to do something to make things right.

God reveals himself a 2nd time to Samuel in Shiloh through his Word. 1 Samuel 3:21 And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD. We must be careful of people who tell us they have a Word from God for us….there is a difference between Prophecy – which is God speaking and Prediction – mind readers which is used to confuse the minds of people through witchcraft.

The Word of God came to past just as was revealed to Samuel (1 Samuel 4).  Israel goes to war with the Philistines and 30,000 men are killed, the Arc of God was removed and taken into the camp and the sons of Eli were killed, when Eli heard the news he fell back and died, the daughter-in-law of Eli dies after giving birth to a son who she names Ichabod “The Glory is departed from Israel”. In the midst of the tragedy, God was in it as God was preparing Samuel to be the 16th Judge of Israel and Israel would rise again. Samuel would reject Saul and appoint David as King and the Arc of God would later be restored.. 1 Samuel 16:16 The LORD said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”

Samuel’s lineage would then come through David, “A man after God’s own heart”

Too many times we as Believers concentrate on what is around us and don’t have Faith to endure to the end. God is a God of completion he will start a work in your life which he is sure to complete.

When the Word from God becomes uncomfortable know that he is beginning a work in your life which will bring you to a place where you will know and hear from him and will bring resolution to your situation.

God is in it!!! God has a long term vision and a long term plan for you, the devil can’t stop your testimony, he can’t stop your anointing, God will make you the head and not the tail…God WILL do what is right in your life….when we think we know what is right, God knows better.
