EDUCATION (Continued) – 3rd step in Establishing yourself in God.

Wednesday 23rd February 2011 – Pastor Mark Ballosingh

Education – to understand clearly, to ascertain, to be accustomed to. An uneducated believer is disaccustomed, if the church begins to pray and it goes longer than usual it makes him uncomfortable, if the service runs longer, it makes him uncomfortable.

A learned believer is accustomed to the things of God. You must love the Lord thy God with all your heart and soul and this comes from having the knowledge of God, to understand when you do work in the church it is for the kingdom and it isn’t a burden.

Testimony is an important part in the education process for there may be someone who is going through a similar situation and through the words of your testimony that person will be edified and educated in dealing with his/her situation.

The wise men came looking for Christ and went to the palace of Herod and asked diligently and asked pertinent questions. God is a specific God. If you come to God and ask him specifically he will give you the knowledge to deal with your situation. But the problem with people today is they do not like to wait. Knowledge is abundant if we decide to wait upon the Lord “Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Education comes through observation and experience, listening and learning. We must ask God to open your spiritual man and spiritual ears to see and receive the things which we have missed in the natural.
Teaching, instructing, training, learning process –
Acts 7:22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.
Romans 15 4-6 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: 6 That ye may with one mind [and] one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When you start to feel hopeless, discomforted and lack patience it means you need to learn something new, you’ve exhausted all you have and need to move to the next level, you need to ask God to teach you something new.

In the life of Joseph every step he went through he learnt something. He was his father’s favourite son and was disliked by his brothers. One day his father sent him to take food to his brothers who threw him into a pit and told his father a bear killed him on his way. He was later found and sold as a slave in Egypt to King Potiphar. He was thrown into jail when Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him of attacking her. In the natural it would seem as though things were going down but when you don’t understand the mind, will and purpose of God you can’t see things in the spiritual realm.

In Joseph’s mind things were getting better for in the process he knew God was positioning him to come into his place of destiny and purpose. Whatever situation Joseph was in, he never questioned God. The story goes on to show Joseph rising from the pit to palace after interpreting the dream of the king.
In every process God takes you through He wants you to learn something. For every dark valley you walk through, every fiery trial whisper to yourself “God I know that there is something you want me to learn, open my spiritual eyes and ears to hear and receive” In the learning process the best voice to hear is God’s, for He will surround you but it is only when you know Christ will He teach you.
It isn’t good enough to read your Bible, go to church and pay tithes for when you go through a trial you wouldn’t be able to apply the word to and over your situation.
The story of Jonah, God spoke to Jonah and instructed him to go to preach to the people of Ninevah. He disobeyed God and was swallowed by the whale. The time spent in the whale’s belly was a learning process out of which came forth his testimony and preaching to the people of Ninevah.

Jonah had something to preach about when he reached Ninevah, his experience and teachings made the entire city repent, when the King heard about the message from Jonah he called the city to repent to put on sackcloth & ashes.
Every time one of the prophets went through something they learnt from it.

Elijah after defeating the army of Baal went under a tree and felt sorry for himself 1 Kings 19:4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I [am] not better than my fathers.. In the process of learning some of us instead of learning something out of it we sit under the tree of self pity but God is about to uproot you to take you to the next level where you will have to learn that which He purposed.

Education, knowledge and learning – Many people know about God and will tell you about God but they do not truly know God. To know God is to have an intimate relationship with Him, it goes beyond just reading the Bible for in the beginning there was the word but we need to tap into the Bread of Life, He which gives us sustenance.

When we know God, in the midst of your dark night He is a shinning light, in your sickness He is a healer, Oh Balm of Gideon, the one whose hands bore the nails for our sins, my God, in the hard times I know you are still my God.It is knowledge that you will get through knowing God, it is knowing that you know that you know, my God will supply all my needs in glory He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all I can think or ask.

Teaching, instruction and training must come from the Word of God and from God himself. But some Believers do not like to be trained. If you truly want to be educated, then you have to submit yourself to be trained by God.

How you move in the kingdom of God requires a level of training. Designated to the Pastor of the church is the responsibility to train.

Jesus said to the fishermen “I will make you fishers of men”, after walking with him for 3 ½ years some of them weren’t qualified. Christ trained the disciples not only the word but the applied word. When Christ had to minister for 3 hours He would pray for half of the day.

To know God, take time to pray, come apart and be separated and learn from God for there are some things only the Holy Spirit can teach you. In order for God to teach and train you, you must have a teachable spirit.

The church must be in one mind and in one accord. You may ask Pastor “how can the church be in one mind?” – it will come through learning. The church must rise and have one voice in worship and it must come from a people who know Christ, to truly know somebody is to love them…if you say you know Christ it is confirmed you love Christ. “Greater love hath no man that he would lay down his life for a friend.” We say we love God because we know God, how much do we love Him and how far are we willing to go to know God?

When God extended His hand to us it was an act of Love, God wants to know us, it is a reciprocated relationship. It is in the process of worship that you come into the knowledge of God. We learn God and learn of God on an individual basis. Your acknowledging and knowing God will bring blessings and favour in your life –“the steps of a righteous man are ordered by God” All God wants is for you to know Him in all His power and might.

When men revile and persecute you for Christ would you turn back or would you stand up for Jesus?

There is a higher degree of learning in the spiritual realm which will take you closer to God.
